What your artist learns

Every class builds on the basics. In Jennifer's words: "We learn the elements of art and the principles of design, and we experiment with as many different art materials as I can possibly share with the children."

Then the layers go on:

  • Wet on wet and wet on dry watercolor
  • Tight, careful painting and loose abstract painting
  • Clay building and hand building
  • Stippling and cross hatching

Tuition, siblings and supplies

Our kids art classes in Chattanooga are $120 a month for one hour every week. Each additional sibling is $100 a month.

Supplies are on us. As Jennifer says, "99.9% of the things we provide for you."

Siblings can share a class where it makes sense. Sometimes they thrive together and sometimes apart, so we work that out with you.

Kind words

A mom of two artists, in her words

“I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the Children's Art Place. What began as an after school program at my children's elementary school quickly became a place where I felt comfortable sending my kids to camp and kids night out.

After several years of participating in all that Children's Art Place has to offer, Ms. Courtney has become like family, not just a teacher to my kids. She has built up their confidence while exposing them to new kinds of art and techniques and artists they wouldn't otherwise know.

When I leave my children at the studio, I know they are well cared for, I know they will learn something, and I know they will have fun! That's rare to find and hard to beat!”

We don't dumb it down

"I believe that children can really learn a lot and we don't dumb it down we speak to them like the brilliant little minds that they are."

Your artist meets master artists from the past and contemporary artists too. Then they make the idea their own.

Missed a week? Pop into another class

Vacations, sick days and family emergencies happen. Just text your teacher and pop into another class that week.

Need a longer break, like summer? Pause for as long as you like and come back in the fall. If kids art classes stop being the right fit, you can cancel anytime in goodwill.

"She's really come out of her shell"

My daughter participated in art class this year, and she had an absolute blast. She was hesitant at first 'cause she said it was hard, but once she started having fun with it, it was amazing and she's grown so much and gotten to use so many different skills and, mixed media.

And she's just had a blast and she's really come out of her shell with her artwork, so I definitely recommend it for, others. So thank you.
