Classes and camps
Classes, camps and the studio
No, we provide everything that we need for the regular lessons. Once in a while if we're doing a special workshop or camp, we'll let you know if we need something out of the ordinary. Like a pair of shoes or something off the wall, but 99.9% of the things we provide for you.
Classes last one hour and they happen weekly. Camps last three hours or all day... They can choose the three-hour camp or the all-day camp.
We always start and build off the basics. We learn the elements of art and the principles of design, and we experiment with as many different art materials as I can possibly share with the children. And so we start with the foundations and we do a lot of drawing, but then we layer on additional materials and techniques and styles and study artists of the past, along with contemporary artists, and make our creations unique.
Yes, we study master artists from the past as well as contemporary artists and we also touch upon the different periods and movements in art as their age allows but I believe that children can really learn a lot and we don't dumb it down we speak to them like the brilliant little minds that they are.
we teach wet on wet watercolor, wet on dry watercolor, wet very tight, careful paint. As well as abstract painting, clay building, hand building, stippling, cross hatching, really just all the basics and many different painting and drawing techniques that the kids will then grow their foundation upon so that they can explore and continue all the way up through adulthood.
Mostly we explore watercolors, acrylics, sculpture, mixed media, soft pastels, oil pastels, sculpture and everything in between and a combination of all of the above.
We love to mix them up, too: as many materials as we can think of, in any combination, plus anything new we think of or mix together ourselves.
We teach all ages. Most of our students are 5 to 12, but we also have a teen class and we're expanding into adult classes.
Yes where it makes sense and we work with you on that to determine what's best for your family and your sibling set. Sometimes siblings thrive being separated and sometimes they thrive being in the same class so we work with each family to determine where your children are going to thrive and in what combination.
Of course we will find you another class that you can pop in on to make up your day.
The same goes if your artist is sick, or for other family emergencies.
Yes of course.
